Spotify’s ultra-cheap student pricing goes global

Spotify’s ultra-cheap student pricing goes global

For a good while now, Spotify has allowed students in the US, UK, and Germany to enjoy a good 50-percent off its premium plan.

Now, this generous offer is going global. Spotify is expanding it to 33 new territories in Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Oceana. The full list follows:

  • Austria
  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Ecuador
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Indonesia
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Lithuania
  • Latvia
  • Mexico
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Philippines
  • Portugal
  • Singapore
  • Spain
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey

All in all, it’s a pretty sweet deal. I’d be curious to see how it impacts piracy in territories like Indonesia and Brazil, where consumers simply aren’t accustomed to paying for music – at least through legitimate channels.

The deal is valid for students for “every year of the student life,” with eligibility assessed through SheerID. You can sign up here.
