DJI will prevent you from flying your drone into restricted airspace starting next month

Starting next month, you won’t have to worry about flying your DJI drone into restricted airspace because it won’t let you.

A new system called Geospatial Environment Online will prevent users from entering into, taking off or landing in restricted airspace. It will also update itself routinely, altering no-fly zones for venues like stadiums as needed.

According to The Verge some areas that are of special interest to national security cannot be accessed at all.

You can bypass most of the system (national security areas withstanding), but you’ll need a verified account with DJI and a payment method on file.

It’s not a measure to help you bypass the new FAA restrictions, but will help you avoid trouble. If you can’t fly into a restricted area, then using a DJI drone is actually a bit more freeing.
