The Comcast/Time Warner Cable merger is dead

Comcast has just announced that its planned merger with Time Warner Cable has been canceled.

The move follows reports from Bloomberg and others yesterday that Comcast was pulling out. US regulators had begun to voice opposition to the deal over the past few days, which would have brought the United States’ biggest cable companies together.

Meanwhile, a Fortune report yesterday claimed that Comcast has recently been in talks to acquire The Verge’s publisher Vox Media as it reassesses its future.
