Residents of Sin City rejoice: Uber today announced that it has started offering its service in Las Vegas, sharing up some estimated fares as well. In subsequent blog posts, Uber also added Reno, Nevada and Monterrey, Mexico to its coverage.
As with any other cities, all you need to do is download the Uber app, tell it where you want to be picked up, and wait for your driver.
Uber is constantly adding cities to its coverage, but Vegas is notable for its relatively strict taxi regulation. For instance, taxis can’t just pick up someone walking down the street unless at a designated taxi stand. Many might appreciate the added convenience of Uber’s service over traditional cab companies, particularly if they’re located outside of the densely populated Strip area.
In any case, given the huge taxi lines large conventions make, it should make it easier for all those tech journalists to get home after CES.
