Square announces three new seller tools: Pre-order and pickup, offline mode, and inventory tracking

Square today announced three new tools for sellers: Pickup, Offline Mode, and Inventory tracking. The trio is meant to help them drive more customers to their business and simplify their operations.

The first is very straightforward: Square now lets sellers offer customers an option to pre-order and pick up their purchase. The new pickup tool on Square Market integrates with Square Register and is available to all sellers at an 8 percent processing fee per order. Like all Square tools, access and setup are free, and sellers receive payment the next business day.

Offline Mode meanwhile enables sellers to use Square’s mobile register, including accepting credit card payments, when temporarily without Internet connection. Square processes payments swiped offline when a connection is reestablished, meaning the buyer and seller can both continue the process even when disconnected.

Last but not least, inventory tracking was one of Square’s most requested features. It gives sellers a free way to track their item stock when selling in person and online: directly in the dashboard, with stock alerts to boot.
