Amazon’s Web services division is upping its appeal to startups — or at least that’s the aim — after it launched AWS Activate, a package of resources specifically tailored to support young and growing businesses and their cloud-based needs.
AWS Activate, which will intensify the rivalry with Microsoft and Rackspace, includes AWS credits, training, developer support, a startup community forum that provides advice and a range of “special offers” from third parties.
The package comes in two different types: ‘Self-Starter’ — which any startup can apply for — and a wider-reaching ‘Portfolio’ option, which caters for young companies that are involved in accelerators, incubators or other growth programs.
