Facebook has changed how we share locations in Messenger. Rather than simply sharing info on where you’re at, you can now send a map of your whereabouts in a message.
A quick tap on the “More” icon brings up linked apps as well as a “Location” option. Selecting it will bring up a map with your location pinned, which can then be shared as a separate message. It’s very similar to the way we share locations in Hangouts.
Facebook also says you can search for a spot to meet up and share that location in a message as well. When a recipient taps on the location-based messages, they open to a full-screen map.
Locations are only shared via these messages, and Facebook says no new permissions are needed to activate the new sharing option.
