If you’re still editing photos with Instagram, it’s time to step up your game. Filters for iPhone quickly became my favorite photo editing app this year for its simplicity, and less-destructive filters.

The app is simplistic, and far more straightforward to use than its competitors. There are more than 800 filters and effects, all of which can be tuned for intensity, rather than simply applying their effect and leaving you to it.
Once you get comfortable with them all, you can start layering them for maximum effect. Personally, I tend to use only the most basic filters along with the base image editing tools.
An option called ‘Shine’ adds subtle brightness in the right places and makes colors more vibrant while another called ‘Intimidate’ adds subtle vignetting and contrast to the shot.
The app uses iOS’ share sheet for direct sharing to social media, or you can just save it to your camera roll for later.
Filters costs just $1.99 and is my absolute favorite app from this year — it now lives on my home screen so I can quickly tweak photos and share them directly.
