At The Pool today launched its new iOS app, Yeti, in an effort to pivot to fostering local discussions about places to go and things to do.
Yeti uses a Tinder-like card interface to present conversations that it thinks you’re interested in. Drawing on your swipes and the data collected from At The Pool, the app will learn as you use it.
At The Pool started out as an “anti-Facebook” designed to get users offline and out meeting new people. However, the startup decided to pivot when it realized that most of its users were using the app to ask questions and recommend places, rather than actually meet up.
