Dash, a mobile payment platform for restaurants, bars and clubs, has launched an iOS app today that lets you pay your bill with your smartphone — without even having to ask for the check.
The app is kicking off with 25 venues in New York City, with new additions planned for every week. Dash says it currently has a total of 50 restaurants already signed up to its platform.
All you have to do is incorporate your credit card information into Dash, and it will do the rest of the work for you at any restaurant that has partnered with the startup.
Dash’s app includes support for splitting bills. It is also fully integrated with the POS systems at bars and restaurants, so users can see their orders being taken down in real-time after they open a tab when seated at the venue. The startup says it will also soon offer itemized control over bill splitting.

What’s interesting is that with this POS integration, Dash is also providing restaurants and bars with actionable analytics each month based on data captured through the app.
Users on Dash can even suggest new venues to be added to the app with a feature called “Request Venue,” which will ping restaurants and bars to inform them that their customers are requesting them to enable payments via Dash.
Dash raised $700,000 in funding this July to develop its iOS app. A similar app, Cover, launched last month that is also aimed at eliminating time spent waiting for your check.
