Fab updates its iOS and Android apps with improved navigation and discovery, plus profiles

After seeing more than half of its Christmas sales in the US come from smartphones, Fab has announced a major update to its Android and iOS apps, featuring newly improved navigation and product discovery, plus the addition of Fab profiles.

Aside from the occasional jump, approximately 30% of Fab’s daily purchases are made via mobile devices — that’s a serious chunk of Fab’s revenues, which is why it’s extremely important for Fab to continue refining its smartphone apps without harming what’s working.

With this update, Fab is emphasizing its new “navigation-less browsing,” a feature which hides the app’s navigation bar as the user scrolls. This sort of feature is relatively simple, and Fab is far from being the first app developer to implement it, but it is still an effective way to ensure a maximum amount of space is utilized on smaller devices.

Fab details that it has also improved its discovery-related functionality, as its apps now let users search, browse and filter by product type and color.

Lastly, Fab’s mobile apps now allow you to “bookmark your faves and purchases with your own new Fab profile.” That move in particular reinforces our prediction that Fab’s next push will be all about adding social features. Here’s a screenshot of a new Fab profile:
