Make your digital gifts stand out by wrapping them with Giftwhip

Make your digital gifts stand out by wrapping them with Giftwhip

The gifts that you purchase online are just as good as any other gifts, if not better. Who doesn’t love a gift card from Amazon, Apple, or Macy’s? Up until now, when you order these gifts online, you simply enter the recipients email address and they get the notification of your thoughtfulness. However, it’s not the same experience as wrapping something up and opening it on Christmas day.

Giftwhip came up with a brilliant idea to wrap those online gifts and not let the recipient open them until you say so. It’s not just for Christmas, this is great for any occasion.

In three steps, you can digitally wrap your gift and keep the recipient in suspense for as long as you want them to be.

It’s free, and you don’t have to use scissors

Giftwhip works with any online store that sends gifts to people’s email addresses. It could be a subscription to a service, or a gift card. The site intercepts the gift and instead delivers a Giftwhip, which won’t open until a time and day designated by you.

All you have to do is write a nice note to someone, select some wrapping paper, and then order your gift online. Instead of putting in your friend’s email address, you put in an address in that’s generated by Giftwhip. That way, the present is kept under wraps until the time is right.

When they get the email, they’ll be sent to a page that looks like this, complete with a timer and their wrapped gift:

After the person gets their Giftwhip notification, they can post this page on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest, so everyone can get excited about what it is. When the time runs out, the gift is unwrapped for all to see.

This is a really smart way to brighten someone’s day in a way that a simple email can’t do. The Internet truly does bring us together, no matter where we are geographically. You might even find yourself making more online gift purchases just so you can wrap them. I’ve thought of a few things already that some lucky folks might find stuffed in their inbox this Christmas.

Sadly for them, I’ll be setting the open date of the gift to sometime in 2013.
