Along with 37 Signals and GrubHub, Groupon is one of Chicago’s biggest consumer tech success stories. So to get an idea of what makes Chicago’s tech scene special, at TechWeek I asked delegates why they thought Groupon came out of Chicago and not Silicon Valley.
The answer? Well mixed reviews but Chicago has a long history of commerce (TechWeek was held in the largest vendor trading building – The Merchandise Mart) and is home to many of the Fortune 500 companies. Could this have an impact on the technology being built there today?
