British technology startups invade Silicon Valley: Web Mission 2011

In the past week 18 UK based technology startups have been on Web Mission in Silicon Valley visiting valley based companies, networking, pitching to investors and understanding more about bringing their companies to the US market, some, with the intention of opening a US office.

I caught up with founder of Web Mission Oli Barrett and some of the startups after their trip to visit the Twitter HQ in San Francisco.

MADE.COM brings original designs to the masses by revolutionising the furniture retail market. The site enables consumers to vote and group-buy furniture direct from factories, at a fraction of the high street price. Each product is crowdsourced before being made to order and shipped direct from the factory to the consumer, cutting out the middleman, and eliminating wastage and warehousing costs.
