Amazon announced today that it will be rolling out package deliveries on Sunday, starting with the Los Angeles and New York metropolitan areas, as it works with the US Postal Service to boost the efficiency of its deliveries — upping the convenience factor and in turn encouraging more shopping.
This means that Amazon Prime members, who are entitled to unlimited, free two-day shipping on millions of items, can now receive their packages on Sunday in these areas. Amazon’s move is also likely aimed at attracting more customers to sign up for its Prime membership.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
The e-commerce giant says it will continue introducing this service to more cities in the US throughout 2014, including Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Phoenix.
Dave Clark, Amazon’s vice president of world-wide operations, told the Wall Street Journal separately that the company will also start introducing Sunday delivery in London later this month, using its own trucks.
