Oh dear. Taxi drivers have hit the streets of London today to protest against Uber – and specifically the way Transport for London regulates the firm – but the demonstrations have actually helped the company to attract new customers.
Across the city, Uber is reporting an 850 percent increase in sign-ups compared to the same day last week. It’s worth noting, however, that the company hasn’t revealed the total number of new users in the capital – and without knowing the original amount, it’s almost impossible to work it out ourselves.
“Londoners are voting with their fingers, tapping the app in support of new and innovative services as we see our biggest day of sign-ups in London today since launch two years ago,” Jo Bertram, Uber’s UK & Ireland General Manager said.
