T-Mobile UK launches ‘The Full Monty’, a truly unlimited call, text and data tariff

T-Mobile UK launches ‘The Full Monty’, a truly unlimited call, text and data tariff

Mobile phone operator T-Mobile is launching a new ‘all inclusive’ pricing plan that it’s calling a “landmark” for the mobile industry in the UK.

Wednesday February 1 will see the launch of T-Mobile’s The Full Monty, a new mobile phone plan that will offer its customers unlimited calls, texts, and mobile Internet – with no ‘fair use’ restrictions imposed.

Indeed, whilst many mobile phone networks offer unlimited data, there is often a limit in place to prevent users from downloading huge files and slowing down the network. These restrictions are also to discourage users from ‘tethering’ their mobile device to their computer and using it as a make-shift ‘broadband’ connection, but T-Mobile says that under its new plan tethering will be permitted.

T-Mobile is calling this plan the “first of its kind for the UK” and it will be available in-store and online for customers who sign up for a 24-month plan. Of course, ‘unlimited calls and texts’ will only apply to UK mobile numbers, and landline numbers beginning with 01, 02, 03 – excluding Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.

The Full Monty plan offers four price brackets, ranging from £36-£61 a month, accompanied by a range of smartphones:

In October, EverythingEverywhere, the parent company of both Orange and T-Mobile announced it was rolling out 3G signals to all of its 27 million customers, with the so-called “big 3G switch-on” allowing customers on both Orange and T-Mobile to benefit from faster data download speeds. This meant customers on one of the networks can interchangeably tap into the other network should they enter a zone not covered by their own provider.

“Over the past two years, we’ve seen a rise in mobile internet use of over 250%, which reflects the consumer trend of being ‘always on’ wherever they are,” says Ben Fritsch, Head of Propositions, T-Mobile UK. “However, consumers also still want to retain a more personal level of communication by calling or sending a text. The Full Monty has been designed for customers who want the peace of mind that there are absolutely no limits placed on their allowances, whilst also knowing they’re getting market leading value for money. We believe our Pay Monthly portfolio offers plans to suit anyone’s needs, all at accessible prices – and we’re really proud to be the first to offer a plan like The Full Monty in the UK.”
