Odds of an iPhone 4 recall? Bookmaker says “Very likely”

Following Consumer Reports’ slamming of the iPhone 4 earlier this week there have been growing calls for Apple to do a full recall on the handset. While our shout is that it’s unlikely, it seems UK-based betting company Paddy Power has other ideas…

Asking “Will the iPhone 4 be recalled” the company is offering odds of 4/6 that it will and 11/10 that it won’t. What does that mean? Well, if you put £10 on a recall and it happened you’d win £16.67. Bet successfully on no recall and you’ll win £21. That sounds to us like the bookies are reckoning.

In other words, Paddy Power thinks a recall related to a faulty iPhone antenna is far more likely to happen than not. Of course, that doesn’t mean it will happen but when there’s money on the table bookies have to be pretty sure about themselves.
