teamer Sports management service Teamer makes a play for the UKTeamer, a project management service aimed at getting rid of admin headaches for amateur sports teams, is about to make a big push in the UK market.

Launched in 2008 in Dublin, Ireland, the service allows team managers to organise squads, keep a diary of upcoming games, discuss strategies and send email or SMS alerts to team members.

Although the site is open to all, Teamer has made a particularly strong start in its home country where the company claims to have “close to 10% of the sports playing population” using the service. Meanwhile sponsorship deals with Vodafone, Lucozade Sport and Allianz are all in place.

Aiming to make an impact in the UK, Teamer is opening a permanent London office to focus on local sales and marketing. The UK is a key priority for the company over the next 12 to 24 months, with the aim being to replicate the success the company has achieved in Ireland.

Currently reporting 250,000 members worldwide, Teamer aims to have reached 1.5 million users by the end of 2011. The site is currently seeing reported growth of 7000, 12,000 members per week.

Discosure: Teamer’s UK office will be headed up by Robert Mattar, an occasional The Next Web contributor.
