
Twitter has expanded its Trends service to 50 new locations worldwide, including a number of cities across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and beyond.
Launched in 2012, Trends showcases topics and hashtags that are popular in a particular location. It is generally seen as a way to increase engagement among users, which makes today’s news noteworthy since Twitter‘s weak user growth figures underwhelmed analysts, sending its share price falling.

Twitter last bumped up Trends back in April 2013, when it added 160 new places worldwide. The company says it is working to add “even more locations in the future.”
