Twitter has released an update to TweetDeck web and Chrome apps that brings a new set of column filters for users to better discover content. In a blog post, the company said that the new filters will enable users to show or exclude specific words and phrases, which it believes will be useful when you want to focus on a “particular element” of a column.

Since it can also display Tweets that are just images and/or video, TweetDeck now allows any column to be solely media-centric, something it says will make it easy for users to scan content to find what they’re looking for.

With showing, users can choose to show either all Tweets, Tweets with images, with video, with any media, or simple with links. Matching allows Tweets that contain specific words to be displayed.

Excluding will obviously show only those Tweets that do not have the search parameters in it. Lastly, retweets will enable users to choose whether to include or exclude retweets from the column, thereby displaying original content.

Twitter says that today’s release is part of its ongoing efforts to bring the features and capabilities of its AIR app to its web version of TweetDeck.
