Twitter is partnering with Nielsen to launch @TwitterSurveys, the company announced today on its Advertising blog. In practical terms, this new feature will push surveys as Promoted Tweets, which will appear within the user’s timeline on both mobile devices and desktop.

While it remains to be seen what users will think of it, this tool is an opportunity for brands to “determine purchase intent, overall awareness, and other advertising metrics and analytics that can lead to greater engagement on Twitter,” the micro-blogging platform says.

Here’s how surveys will look:

Twitter is currently testing this new option with a “small set of advertisers,” and plans to make it available to additional partners in early 2013.
