Did you ever think you could pay for college with your Twitter skills? Now you can. It looks like the Twitter bird plays well with chickens. Today, KFC unveiled its plan to award a $20,000 college scholarship for the best tweet it receives.
Everyone love easy opportunities to win free money and Twitter is a great place for the word to spread like wildfire. Earlier this year JetBlue tweeted away 1,000 free round-trip tickets for its 10th anniversary and Hugh Jackman offered $100,000 to one individual’s favorite charity who could convince him in a single tweet.
“It’s how this generation communicates,” says John Cywinski, KFC’s marketing chief. “It’s a generation used to instant messaging and immediate gratification.”
To enter, from November 16th to November 26th, follow KFC on Twitter (@KFC_Colonel) and tweet why you think you exemplify “Colonel Sanders’ commitment to education” and why you are deserving of a college scholarship. Be sure to include #KFCScholar in the tweet. So,
“I should be a #KFCScholar because…”
The winner will be selected based 40% on creativity, 30% need and 30% drive, says spokeswoman Laurie Schalow. To be eligible you must be graduating high school by August 2011 and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75. The winner will be announced December 1st, 2010. Let us know if you win!
