This lovely infographic has a veritable plethora of data (datums?) on age and social networking. What sticks out? Social network users are much older on average than you may have thought. Average age of someone who tweets? 39 years old. Average age on LinkedIn? 44 years.
Take a look, some 47% of internet users aged 50-64 are users of social networks, maybe its time they were given more respect. Thanks to FlowTown for compiling this be sure and check out the high-resolution version.

Thanks for realizing “we” are not all in rocking chairs knitting scarves for our children waiting to die!
:D
So all those Heads of Marketing thinking social media is going to put their brand in front of the 18-30s and get them their bonus this year are in for disappointment… who’d a thunk it!?
Interesting stats. Unfortunately, I think your legend is reversed in the bar graph that’s in the middle on the right side. You are showing an increase in the % of people who have NOT done this from 2009 to 2010, which is the opposite of the point you are trying to make.
Jeezus, another “Mom” reference? Aren’t there enough GeekGirls out there (of all ages) to end the Mom comparisons? This is an interesting bit of sociographics, but seriously enough with the Mom thing!
Don’t forget that some of us 50-64s were writing and using IM software back in the late 1970s. To a person who was chatting and flirting online 30 years ago, Facebook is only a small step forward.
