I’m really not sure what to make of this.
A couple, Greg Rewis and Stephanie Sullivan, who met on Twitter and got engaged on Twitter are now rounding it off by getting married on Twitter. How you ask? By getting their children from previous marriages will live tweet the ceremony, reciting their marriage vows in 140-characters-or-less increments as a minister pronounces Rewis and Sullivan man and wife.
“The nuptials, scheduled for 6 p.m. in the couple’s Phoenix home, will be attended in person by about 10 guests, but the virtual wedding party could number in the thousands. Sullivan created the #tweetwed hash tag enabling curiosity-seekers to check out the event online.” says Wired.
I’m don’t mean to be harsh but…cringe.

HAHA I know @Stefsull here in Phx… She's pretty cool actually.
I'm not a big wedding fan but funny that the first person doing it is a local geek friend :)
I suppose if you're road warrior geeks like us, who know people all over the world who would like to attend, and you work on the internet… I dunno, it made a lot of sense to us. And it's so GREEN. Think of the carbon emissions we saved by not asking friends and relatives to fly! ;) The greatest benefit was that nearly all the 12 people that attended were “techy types” in some capacity—so the amount of photos and video that came out of it has been amazing. And we didn't even hire a photographer. Heh The UStream is here – you can judge the event for yourself (8 minute ceremony about halfway through): http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5888933
Couple corrections though: We didn't MEET on Twitter, but we did get engaged there while we lived on opposite sides of the country. And we didn't actually create the hashtag for random curiosity seekers, though after the Wired article, it seems there were some. We created that so that my family and our friends could follow along. ;)
