There’s an email going round asking Facebook users to reset their password. The email is a fake and contains a virus, do not open or follow any of its instructions.
Facebook is reportedly in the process of letting its users know, but be sure to let anyone you know be aware of the email.
The message says the following:
The message appears to come from Facebook Support with help@facebook.com as the email address.
If you use a web based email client, you shouldn’t be too concerned with the viral part of this but if you download your email, it’s worth virus checking your computer to be safe. The attachment contains a password stealer that can potentially access any username and password combination used on the computer, not just the login credentials for Facebook reports CNet.

Yes. I totally got this! It went to both my professional email AND personal email (the same lone email)- both are associated with Facebook but are two different accounts which I found odd. Thanks for spreading the news around.
Every time I see something like this it reminds me of why I use Ubuntu and OS X. I can't remember the last time I had a virus. Not that I had many when I had Windows either. I was always pretty careful.

The zip file contains an EXE. This won't cause much grief for users of PCs that run a proper operating system such as Ubuntu or even Mac OS X.
No kidding! You get what you pay for! With UBUNTU you pay in time learning something new, in OS X you pay out the wallet, and with Windows you pay out in frustration and paranoia for as long as you own it!

A lot of people fall victim to opening malicious links, or it wouldn't
be an issue would it? Not everyone in the world that uses computers

In all honesty I wish nobody had warned anybody of this phishing attack in order to weed out the dumbasses from the facebook pool (since I can't say gene pool). I may be rotten but heck whatever, learn the common clues to phishing and you will be fine.

Ubuntu is easy to use, especially the latest version of it. My wife, not that she's a computer idiot or anything like that, said it's like it was built with kids in mind.

I have a perfectly good Windows XP disc sitting in the closet. Ubuntu is just a better choice for what this laptop is used for. Not to mention it runs faster and is less prone to screwing up.

well,what concerns me is keeping my PC healthy and clean of viruses which may damage my programs…as for phishing,tracking,and spying.there some programs preventing theses effects…avg antivirus is the best over the other programs..since i have used it ..i found no troubles at all…but I have some suspects with FACEBOOK..this site can disclose the privacy of users and show it to the whole world of internet and that is too bad
