After the mayhem of the arrival of Bill Gates on Twitter yesterday, Gates has announced his next step into the world of social media with the launch of The Gates Notes, his new blog.
Gates explains his motivations for the site:
“Since leaving my full time job at Microsoft to dedicate more time to our foundation, a lot of people have asked me what I’m working on. It often feels like I’m back in school, as I spend a lot of my time learning about issues I’m passionate about,” he says in an introductory note. “I’m fortunate because the people I’m working with and learning from are true experts in their fields. I take a lot of notes, and often share them and my own thoughts on the subject with others through email, so I can learn from them and expand the conversation.”
Gates continues, “I thought it would be interesting to share these conversations more widely with a website, in the hope of getting more people thinking and learning about the issues I think are interesting and important.”
To date the blog includes articles on education reform and the need for help in Haiti. There’s also a podcast series with Gates speaking on climate change and related subjects.
Ironically, the site has an almost Apple like feel, and includes sections on his travels, books he’s reading. Other sections include “What I’m Thinking About” , “What I’m Learning”, and “Infrequently Asked Questions”.
Of course, like most techees, he also has link direct to his Twitter profile.

Hi…first of all I would like to say that Mr. Gates…in the true sense of the meaning…is truly a very remarkable man…someone who is a role model for our American youth as well as the entire world…who I'm sure know his story…I'm happy to know that he can now give his full attention to what he loves best, which is helping others here and around the world…he is a man to be admired…may God bless him in his endeavors…

That great, congrats to bill
I concur; Mr. Bill Gates has made the world a better place for adults and children. In our family, when it comes to buy computers/electronics if Microsoft is associated hands down, we buy it. I was in New York when the game of Halo3 debut, the world became a better place, gamer excellence at the next level; proud owner of an X-Box 360.

Great tip, Zee – it's a nicely designed site, and it's already got a load of great content… one small point, though… I can't see evidence of an RSS feed (for the main site or any of the sub-topics). Is it just me?
Bill, If your looking for something to do help me further develop eletroluminecent quantum dot LED screen technology. Its back to your “Window on the World” comment.
Hey Bill, where's your RSS feed? Damnit why aren't you using some standard blogger service… oh, it's pages have .aspx filenames. No surprise that it doesn't follow any standards…
As AndrewTerry said, there are no RSS feeds on this site whatsoever. This is a major oversight imho.
This is also especially relevant on the so-called podcasts. With out an RSS feed, it really isn't a 'proper' podcast. I doubt even the Zune can auto update episodes with an RSS feed!
I think you should go to this site and reflect Gates notes.
Billgates finally tweet is a prove that Internet Invention has no stopping stage. Welcome u BillGates to twitter and happy New yr.
