This web experiment shows you’re extremely predictable

This web experiment shows you’re extremely predictable

Even though we sometimes feel we’re all wholly unique personalities traversing the internet, we’re all really just interchangeable sheep — right? Let’s find out.

Multiclick is a simple web tool that gives you only one assignment — you get to click wherever you want in a square.

Directly after clicking you see exactly where other users have clicked, and you’re able to pull up a heat map of the most-clicked spots. Because I don’t want to spoil anything, you should try it first:

Go forth and click!

Alright, did you do it? Great. As it turns out, a lot of people click in the same places — either near one of the corners, near the middle or around a spot to the left that’s easily reachable for mobile users holding their phone in one hand.

As I write this, more than 80,000 people have clicked, creating an almost symmetrical shape — save for the ‘click here’ bubble — that proves most of us are doing pretty much the same.

So what did you do? Did you click one of the more predictable spots or rebelliously end up in one of the few white spaces? Let us know in the comments.
