These ‘Star Wars’ helmets allow you to have conversations with a partner in droidspeak

If you’ve ever wanted to speak is a series of buzzes, beeps and whirrs — a la BB8 or R2D2 — Canadian electronics designer AE Innovations has you covered with this amazing helmet.

The helmet has a throat mic that detects when you’re speaking and then transmits a series of noises that mimmic the ‘droidspeak’ of the lovable ‘Star Wars’ droids.

Better still, the mic transmits to earphones in another helmet, meaning you and a friend can have a full conversation in private while anyone outside the helmet hears two chattering droids.

The project won’t see a commercial release — at least not right now — but the files, images and plans are all available on Hackster if you want to build your own. It’s not an easy project, but if the force is strong within you and you want to speak droid, now’s your chance.
