The groundhog may have predicted an early spring in the United States, but elsewhere, our northern neighbors are getting creative with the mundane task of shoveling snow.
Dubbed “shovering,” a Canadian teen has combined the use of a hover-less hoverboard to expedite the shoveling process, though it’s unclear if the board gives him any kind leverage to pick up more snow. According to The Hamilton Spectator, the teen’s mother says her son often uses the device to assist in various domestic chores, such as vacuuming, sweeping, taking out the trash, and soon, lawn mowing.
Sure, points for creativity, but maybe don’t try this at home? The slippery conditions make it even more likely you can fall and hurt yourself… while holding a death rod with a giant metal sheet attached it. Also, the potential for melted snow to slip into motors of a device known to spontaneously combust is basically asking for a Darwin Award. Unless of course the goal was to clear the snow with fire in one fell swoop.
On the plus side, it’s Canadian law to have winter tires during the season. Maybe hoverboards are no exception.
