France has the honor of being the first
soccer football team to be aided by FIFA’s new goal-line technology, after it was used to award a goal in yesterday’s World Cup 2014 match against Honduras.
While the initial shot from French forward Karim Benzema struck the post and didn’t cross the line, the whole of the ball did go over after it ricocheted off unfortunate Honduras ‘keeper Noel Valladares, according to FIFA’s tech setup.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
Not included in this clip is Honduras coach Luis Fernando Suárez berating the officials for allowing the goal. There’s not much mileage in that complaint any longer, old son.
Inaccurate decisions like the below are the reason FIFA has stepped things up — but do you agree that it got this World Cup goal right?
