This ‘VIP Fridge Magnet’ lets you order pizza at the push of a button

We’ve all heard about ubiquitous computing, right? And what about the Internet of Things? The notion that everyday objects will one day be ‘connected’ and perhaps even talk to each other is not a new concept, indeed we’re already seeing this come to fruition.

But what about refrigerators? Yes, fridges have often been cited in hypothetical, futuristic scenarios involving ubiquitous computing…fridges that know what’s inside, offering dish suggestions based on its content. But what about fridges that don’t care what’s contained within, and helps you order a pizza for delivery instead? Well it’s here, sort of.

Red Tomato Pizza in Dubai has developed a fridge magnet that you sync and set-up once with your smartphone via Bluetooth. You attach the fridge magnet to, well, your fridge, and then to order a pizza, just push the button.

“Some people call it a ‘pizza emergency button for your belly’,” the company says. “Others say it’s the ‘best thing since sliced bread’. We call it ‘The VIP Fridge Magnet’.
