This movie project turns entire apartments into pinhole cameras [video]

Ever wondered what a captured image looks like inside a camera? Stenop.es, an ongoing project, which takes an entire apartment and effectively turns it into a pinhole camera, gives you the chance to experience just that.

The work of photographers Romain Alary and Antoine Levi, the project translates into gorgeous Parisian buildings projected onto the walls of quiet Parisian apartments. Inverted trees, rooftops, and the warmth of the sun are suddenly sharing the space with a kitchen cabinet full of wine glasses, or a living room with batiked pillows and a multicoloured rug.

So how is this effect achieved? The apartment is completely darkened and a small hole is made in a window, letting the light from outdoors spill inside.

This isn’t the first time Alary and Levi have put this method to use. Several years ago, they did the same in an apartment in Pushkar, India. Reviving the project once again, they’re also on the lookout for more interesting spaces in Paris to add to the project.
