You’re ignoring stock splits in your comparison of stock prices. MSFT stock has split 9 times since 1986. 7 times the split was 2:1, 2 times it was 3:2. That’s a factor of 384. So one share purchased in 1986 at $27.50 would be 384 shares at $24.33 today or $9342.72. Also, since 2003 MSFT stock pays dividends, so the value of those shares has had additional value as well.

APPL stock has split 3 times 2:1 since 1984; a factor of 8x. So one share purchased at $25.12 in 1994 would be 8 shares at $326.26 today or $2610.08.”

more accurately described as the history of “Personal Computing”, for computing proper IBM is definitely missing.

Hardly the “history of computing”, as it completely omits countless other platforms. It should be renamed “the history of Microsoft vs Apple” or similar.
