This email thread is simply too funny not to share with you. It comes from an awesome site called 27bslash6 that you should subscribe to. We’ll post half of the thread here and if you enjoy it, you can finish reading it up over there, probably the fair thing to do…or just go straight there now of course. Enjoy.
Story goes:
Shannon (the secretary) has lost her cat and has asked David (the graphic designer) to help with a lost poster. This is their email correspondence…

Hi
I opened the screen door yesterday and my cat got out and has been missing since then so I was wondering if you are not to busy you could make a poster for me. It has to be A4 and I will photocopy it and put it around my suburb this afternoon.

This is the only photo of her I have she answers to the name Missy and is black and white and about 8 months old. missing on Harper street and my phone number.
Thanks Shan.

Dear Shannon,
That is shocking news.
Although I have two clients expecting completed work this afternoon, I will, of course, drop everything and do whatever it takes to facilitate the speedy return of Missy.
Regards, David.

Dear Shannon,
It’s a design thing. The cat is lost in the negative space.
Regards, David.

Thats just stupid. Can you do it properly please? I am extremely emotional over this and was up all night in tears. you seem to think it is funny. Can you make the photo bigger please and fix the text and do it in colour please. Thanks.

Dear Shannon,
Having worked with designers for a few years now, I would have assumed you understood, despite our vague suggestions otherwise, we do not welcome constructive criticism. I don’t come downstairs and tell you how to send text messages, log onto Facebook and look out of the window. I have amended and attached the poster as per your instructions.
Regards, David.

This is worse than the other one. can you make it so it shows the whole photo of Missy and delete the stupid text that says missing missy off it? I just want it to say Lost.

It’s made by david thorne from http://www.27bslash6.com
i only post half and i give complete credit at the top and bottom of the post.
WIN!
LOL
#fail #jerk
Very funny !
What an idiot. People who go out of their way to pi$$ of others certainly won’t get me coming to them with work. #fail
coool.
This is only half of the post. It gets even funnier… http://www.27bslash6.com/missy.html
i do make that perfectly clear at the top and bottom of the post
this is not the whole thread though :S it ends with a cat in a hat….
yeah, intentionally didn’t post the whole thread to give credit to the original author – wouldn’t have been right…says at the bottom that you can keep reading at http://www.27bslash6.com/missy.html though

That has got to be the best missing cat poster EVER!
this is hilarious!
very funny :)
What an ass! This can’t possibly be for real- he would have spent all morning doing these designs just to piss her off instead of either his paying work, or just doing what she wanted in 5 minutes.
This is too funny. Something similar happened to us. We tried to do something genuinely nice for friends, except that it backlashed and we got ourselves literally guillotined. Ahhh, human nature!
Ironic hipster dickhead with a fixie. give me the secretary anyday.
It’s a humor website, it didn’t really hapen, so relax, people. Go read it – everything on there is hilarious.
actually, most of the stuff on that site is NOT made up.
you all are a bunch of fools… this is the best example of how superior designers are to all other humans…
amen.
Lmao, a little mean but very funny :P
HAHAHA that is the funniest thing I have ever seen
I would have used them all! You think people actually look at “missing pet posters?” I sure don’t… now if i saw something like that posted up… I would definitely look at it!
And no… don’t ever ask a designer for a favor… we are typically “mean” people. Usually a bit to “realistic” for our own good.
realistic? bad choice of words.
artsy people in general are so out of touch with reality that it’s pathetic. this guy, for example.
LMAO absolutely hilarious
if this was done in london, why are they talking about dollars and not pounds?
she asked for a Poster, she got one.
I love this man.
This is pretty funny but true.
The designer looks like a bit of a marketer too.
it was very funny!!!!!!!!
It’s hilarious how several people are getting all pissed off at this post, First off…it’s called a JOKE! go buy a sense of humor at Walmart. Second: obviously those who are bitching here are not, COULD NOT be designers. If they were they would get it, and would stfu and laugh like the rest of us.
Kibasa is RIGHT. The cranky pants people who are getting all upset are probably offenders exactly like “Shannon Walkley” in the joke. (That is, thinking a professional resource in their company is somehow a personal resource for their own needs.) I love to help people when I can, but there is not one designer on the planet who doesn’t know how truly funny this is (and secretly wishes they had the time to mess w/someone like this!). :)) Lighten up friends!
Thanks for sharing, Reann
I wish i could hire that guy.
sorry guys but you are all wrong, i am a brilliant and people-conscious graphic designer doing a lot of favors everyday and i can assure you, nobody ever minded the red hat.
forgot: johnny i would by happy to help you with whatever you like ;)
呢個故事實在太棒啦…記住睇埋d英文字……XD”"
Pretty funny
