Great post – would like to see a guess at what this chart looks like in 2 – 5 years. Virtual goods etc?
When you can find a product much cheaper, due to the fact that the supplier dose not pay for rent and for many employees, like in real stores, the only obstacle is to see what you get. You can see an electronic device in the store and get it from an online store with practically no risk. Now in the drugs and health aids field, the lack of confidence and some online scams are probably the main reason for these statistics.
not much effort into this post :) Good point regarding virtual goods…virtual gold mine.
Seems these stats are from the U.S. Census Bureau. So, this is what Americans are buying online, not what “People” are buying online. Get your title straight foo. :P
Really useful data. Just dont know they are true. I am glad computer is at second place.
Am I reading it right that people in the US buy more “food, beer and wine” online than in-store? It seems odd to me. Don't people still go to supermarkets? Or is Gary Vaynerchuck *that* powerful.
Yours is the 8th website I have seen that has the “exact” same “chart” from the US Census Bureau …. Duplicate Content is also a factor…
Wow, that's interesting. Looking at my online shopping and the people I know I would swear it's the clothing that is bought the most. On the second place in my society would be music items like cd's. The research shows something different, good to know.
