It’s harsh, I know. But surely even you Microsoft loving The Next Web readers out there, over the moon because Windows 7 has launched with some success, will agree the below video just doesn’t sit right.
I couldn’t even face to watch it the whole way through, and I’m actually someone who has grown a great deal of respect for Microsoft over recent months…

OK it is a bit long indeed. but hey, I like the fact that these employees want to have some fun and share that with the other people in the store. I wouldn’t have chosen a 4 minute song, more a 40 second gig.
now why do i think i know why you just said what i think you said… :) sorry man.
I must rephrase myself. I actually took the time to watch the video this time :)
It sucks indeed. I think somebody just got some line dancing classes and thought it would be a good idea to practice during work hours. FAIL
Want to have fun? This is sooo fake. If my boss would ask me to do something like this I would call in sick.
Dance Monkey. Dance!
Look how bored the public watches.
Fake, and gay.
Must be something Steve Ballmer came up with. I recognize his style.
Also, can’t wait for the Apple parody ad reply.:
Mac Guy: Hi I’m a Mac.
PC Guy: and I’m a PC.
Mac Guy: Hey PC, what are you doing?
PC Guy: Oh, this is just a little dance we do in our store to, you know, lighten things up a bit.
Mac Guy: I see, do customers like it when you do that?
PC Guy: Ehm, no, they usually look bored and ignore us. But hey, we aren’t selling as much as you do so this is what we came up with to improve sales and show that we are JUST as cool as you.
Mac Guy: Shouldn’t you focus on building better products?
PC Guy: Nah, too much work. Watch me dance now. Ooh, my back. Hurt my back. Gotta sit down…
Kudos for Boris — you got that right.
hey look, i can be cool too!
classic fail here, has less energy and genuine feel than a blue-light special at Walmart. all that’s missing is the vest.
exactly how many sharks can Microsoft jump?
I am with the guy up there… DANCE MONKEY DANCE! Too funny… love this.
Ooh, cutting edge dance to match their technology. How old is the Electric Slide anyway?
ouch, sooo embarrasing. why a 4 min tune? crazy!!
I sort of feel bad for the people roped into doing this. Except for Ms. AcidwashedJeans, she seems to be having fun with it and that almost makes it worse. Would love to have a transcript of the meeting where this was brought up and acted on.
Bad idea, MS, bad idea and bad execution = you are still lame and not cool at all.
They’re just warming up… watch out. What comes next is going to bore you away even better.
Better execution would be to stage it a few times with several pro dancers in the mix, and a pro camera man or two capturing it to make sure the youtube videos were as good as youtube can handle. Or Bing… doesn’t Bing have video? Look out Vimeo, your employees could be dancing next.

Saludos.

Pues a mi me parece penoso. ¿A bailar? Y todos a bailar. ¿A saltar?
