iPhone App Drives Minivan [video]

iPhone App Drives Minivan [video]

The Spirit of Berlin team has developed an iPhone app to remotely control a minivan.

The ‘iDriver’ app connects with the driving circuitry via WiFi and offers a gas button, a brake button, and a steering button to enable the accelerometer for turning. The front camera video is transmitted to the iPhone in real-time.

The van can also drive itself, by way of technologies developed for the 2007 DARPA Urban Grand Challenge autonomous vehicle race (the van was their entry). Packed inside are a stack of IBM Blade servers, video cameras, 3D laser sensors and GPS for positioning, as well as the drive-by-wire system that enables the iDriver app’s functionality.

Anyway, you just want to watch the video right? Right.
