TNW Poll – Controlling your home with your phone: A gimmick or the future for us all?

TNW Poll – Controlling your home with your phone: A gimmick or the future for us all?

Earlier today, we published a story about the Canary Multi-Sensory Hub which learns about your home and alerts you if something is wrong. This is not the first, nor the only app or system which offers you the ability to control your home from your phone or the Web when you are out and about.

You may have heard of other services and systems such as the Nest thermostat, Phillips Hue light bulbs and Belkin’s WeeMo hardware. These clever bits of kit all allow you to take control of your home from afar via your phone.

The question we are asking today is whether controlling your home with your phone is a gimmick, or a is it the future for us all as this capability becomes cheaper to implement, easier to use and more readily available for consumers like you?
