Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has finally launched its flagship One smartphone in India today, at an event in the capital city of New Delhi.
The device will be sold exclusively through Amazon India, and customers will have to score country-specific invites for a chance to buy them. OnePlus users in India will also receive invites to share with others.
In India, the One’s 64GB variant will be available at $355 (Rs. 21,999). Additionally, accessories like cases and screen protectors for the device are also The company also announced that it will open its first office and service center, outside of its headquarters, in India.
A network of 25 walk-in service centers will be set up across the country, and even those who purchased the global One from other markets will be covered by an Indian warranty.
It’s worth noting that unlike the rest of OnePlus’ 17 markets, India will not receive OTA updates of the phone’s Cyanogen ROM (though it will ship with the current version), since the OS is now licensed to smartphone manufacturer Micromax exclusively in India. OnePlus has said they are working on their own build based on Android Lollipop for India, which they hope to ship around February next year.
