Sprint announces $240 nearly bezel-free 5-inch Aquos Crystal

Sprint on Tuesday announced its latest smartphone, the nearly bezel-free Sharp Aquos Crystal.

The Aquos Crystal features a 5-inch edge-to-edge 720p display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage packed in a 10mm-thick body. The model will run on Android KitKat 4.4.2, and is equipped with Harman Kardon speakers, an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP selfie cam.

The announcement comes a day after Sharp announced the Aquos Crystal X – a Japan-only model – which boasts a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p display and larger memory capacities. There are currently no plans to bring the Crystal X to the states.

Sprint also announced on Monday a new Family Share Pack that will allow users up to 10 lines to share 20 GB of monthly data for $100. In comparison, T-Mobile’s family plan lets four lines share unlimited data for $100 a month, while AT&T’s family plan allows up to four lines to share 10 GB of data for $160 a month. Sprint’s new price plan will go into effect on Friday.
