Budget carrier FreedomPop offers a new $5 wireless plan with unlimited voice and text

Adding to the free mobile phone service it launched last Fall, FreedomPop has announced a new $4.58 plan that offers unlimited voice minutes and text messages. The free option will continue to include 500MB of data, 500 text message and 200 minutes.

FreedomPop CEO Stephen Stokols said in a statement that the company is “declaring war” on the wireless industry.

Another conference. “Great.”

This one’s different, trust us. Our new event for New York is focused on quality, not quantity.

If you’re considering a switch, you should know that FreedomPop runs on the Sprint network and has limited availability nationwide. You can use old Sprint-compatible phones on the carrier or purchase a device like the Galaxy S II directly from FreedomPop.
