In the wake of all the hoo-hah around the NSA’s international snooping exploits, encrypted communications firm Silent Circle and Spanish smartphone maker Geeksphone have announced a new Switzerland-based venture AND its inaugural product: Blackphone.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
Blackphone is touted as “the world’s first smartphone placing privacy and control directly in the hands of its users”, which in real terms constitutes a version of Android called PrivatOS that promises to let consumers and companies make phone calls, send texts and everything else, “without compromising user privacy”.
The company says that the device will be sold unlocked and work with any carrier. Pre-orders start at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, on February 24. Meanwhile, check out the official promo video for yourself below.
