If you’re a fan of the new browser-based video chatting application Airtime, and you want to know when you access the service and chat with friends and other users on your smartphone, you won’t have to wait any longer than about four weeks.
That’s according to the company’s co-founder Sean Parker (Facebook and Spotify stakeholder), who gave a SocialNerdia’s Estaban Contreras a more specific launch timeframe than the initial “coming soon” that had been bandied about at yesterday’s launch.

The service was built by Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning (of Napster fame) and is a browser-based video chatting application that utilises Facebook to help you create shared experiences with people you know and people you’ve never met before.

You could liken it to ChatRoulette but because it uses Facebook connections to match and connect users, it’s much more than that. Oh, and there’s much less nudity.
The service piqued the interest of Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg, who decided to see what it was all about. He was spotted by Ronen Verbit, who said: “Thanks for making Facebook.” Nice.
Airtime will eventually be available not only on the desktop via your browser but on your iOS and Android smartphone and tablet.
We know that the Android app is less than 4 weeks away but Parker didn’t say when the iOS application would become available. We imagine it would face a similar wait, so that mobile users aren’t limited to one platform and so that the service can build upon ChatRoulette’s failures by scaling beyond the desktop.
