After a couple of days of confusion, LG has finally come right out and confirmed that their Optimus One lineup will in fact be getting an upgrade from Froyo to Google’s latest mobile software, Gingerbread.
LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.
This comes after an LG employee, who knows if he or she is one anymore, confirmed to a customer on Facebook that the Optimus One would not be getting Gingerbread because it only had a 600 MHz processor and Google had a 1GHz processor requirement for the new operating system
This of course threw Optimus One owners into bewilderment.
Motorola Droid owners too.
Fortunately, that was all wrong (Google confirmed that to us two days ago) and LG’s Optimus lineup which includes the Optimus T, Optimus U, Optimus S, Optimus M and the recently released Vortex will in fact be making the jump to Android 2.3.
