LG Optimus One Becomes Fastest Selling Mobile Handset In Company’s History

LG has just put out a press release that reveals some pretty astonishing sales numbers. Their Optimus One line has hit the one million sold mark, after being on the market for a mere 40 days, making it the fastest selling mobile device in the company’s history.

That’s a pretty amazing number for a phone many of you in the United States have never heard of. Sadly, it should already be popular here because it’s affordable ($79.99 at T-Mobile, $50 at Sprint), it runs Android 2.2 aka Froyo and it has a very good form factor.

After tonight though, expect it’s visibility in the United States to increase.

For those unaware of the device, in Europe and Asia, it’s called the Optimus One. In the United States, it goes by several names. On T-Mobile it’s the Optimus T. On Sprint, the Optimus S. And it will be called the Optimus Vortex when it comes out this Thursday on Verizon.

Today was no small feat and LG doesn’t expect sales to slow down anytime soon. They are predicting the Optimus One line to be their first handset to sell 10 million devices.
