HP Slate gets another overview video, specifications get outed

A few days back we brought you the first look at the HP Slate, where a YouTube user going by the moniker “x313xkillax” showed us what the Windows 7-powered tablet was capable of.

Whilst the Slate looked cumbersome and somewhat laggy, we could see a practical use for the tablet, especially for business-centric users who would need additional processing power, Windows support and the ability to add additional devices by way of a USB connection.

At the time of filming, x313xkillax remarked that he was open to requests and questions and today he has delivered another nine minute video which includes the official packaging, a HDMI-equipped dock, an overview of some more features and all importantly, specifications of the tablet.

The HP Slate will almost certainly ship with the following:

  • 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 with GMA500 and Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video accelerator
  • 8.9-inch WSVGA screen
  • 2GB DDR2 RAM
  • 60GB storage capacity
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth
  • SD card reader
  • 2-Cell 30WHr Lithium-ion Polymer battery

Also included in the packaging was a dock that would allow the Slate to be place upright for use, featuring a kickstand, HDMI out and a couple of USB ports.

Enough of the technical specs, here’s the video:

What do you think? Does a Windows 7 OS and robust look mean it’s simply going to be too corporate for your needs? Thoughts in the comments please.
