Microsoft launches mid-range Lumia 640 and 640XL, arriving April

Microsoft has today launched the Lumia 640, a 5-inch Windows Phone device that will go on sale in next month.

The device will initually ship with Windows 8.1 but will be upgradeable to Windows 10 “later this year,” the company said.

The device has a 5-inch display and will come with 8GB of onboard storage. It’ll be offered in single and dual-SIM variants.

Alongside the 640, Microsoft also introduced a “super-sized” 640 XL with a 5.7-inch HD display and a 13-megapixel camera. It measures just 9mm thick.

The devices both include 1 year of Office 365 included.

Both models will go on sale in April and both will come in 3G and LTE models.

For the Lumia 640, the 3G model will cost around €139, while the LTE version will cost €159. The XL version with 3G will cost €189, while the LTE version will set you back €219 when it goes on sale next month.
