Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 adoption accelerates, says Windows Store trend report

Windows Phone is still struggling against Android and iOS. But there is some good news: Version 8.1 of the mobile operating system has gained some significant traction among users.

According to Microsoft, Windows Phone 8.1 has become, “the primary download OS version for Windows Phone apps in September.” With Windows Phone 7.x garnered less than five percent of all apps downloaded in September.

The company also noted that customers using Windows 8.1 represent around 70 percent of Windows Store downloads. Of course there are tons of older Windows machines deployed in businesses without access to the Windows Store, but for the consumer market, this is good news for the company.
