Microsoft sure does like to update the Xbox One. Fortunately those updates make the console just that much cooler.
Today, Microsoft’s Major Nelson announced that the company would be rolling out the new features and updates. The updates include: wider support for media playback, enhanced Party App features, SmartGlass message posting, a bandwidth usage gauge and host of other new and updated features.
The Media Player will now play media from an attached USB drive. In the future, it will be getting DLNA support and playback dozens more file types than the Xbox 360, including Mpeg 2 TS, animated GIF and MKV.
A new Party Leader feature has been added to the Party App. Leaders can adjust access to the party, kick people out and see what everyone is up to. Just like a real party host.
SmartGlass users can now post status messages from the activity feed and share game clips their feed. Also the layout has been updated and a conversation mode has been added. Plus, you can record game clips from the Now Playing bar.
For anyone with a metered Internet access, there’s a Bandwidth Usage Display that display how much data you’ve used over a period of time. Helpful when you’re concerned about going over your data limit.
The update also adds the ability to boot up the Xbox directly to TV mode, deleting multiple game clips at once, saving your avatar to your OneDrive and expands the “Xbox On” voice command to Australia, Canada (French), Italy, Spain and Mexico.
These features should be hitting all Xbox Ones over the next couple days.
